The CBCI exam tests your knowledge of the Good Practice Guidelines (GPG) – the comprehensive guide to industry best practice for business continuity and resilience.
We recommend you take the CBCI Certification Course to prepare for this exam. However, experienced business continuity practitioners can sit the exam without training.
This is the online resit for those who have previously taken the 2018 exam and require an additional attempt. Candidates can take the resit exam after 30 days have elapsed from the first attempt date.
The online exam is administered by a proctor via webcam. The proctor team are based worldwide, which allows for a variety of appointments available 24/7 to accommodate candidates in all different time zones.
Once we have registered you for the online exam, the BCI will send you an email with information regarding the technical requirements for the exam and a link to schedule your exam – please note this can take up to 72 hours. You will have 60 days to sit your exam and you will be able to see proctor availability for all 60 days upon registering.
Once you have completed the exam, you will receive your result instantly. The online exam and result will then be verified and audited by the BCI. Following successful clearance of this, the formal notification of the result and certificate will be sent by the BCI within 4 weeks of taking the exam.
Those sitting the CBCI exam will need a copy of the Good Practice Guidelines 2018 (electronic copy also available), as the exam is based on the book. The BCI Online Mock CBCI Examination Questions are also a useful revision tool for the exam. These products are not included with the exam. If you would like to purchase them, please click on the links and add the products to your basket.
The examination consists of 120 multiple choice questions which candidates will have 2 hours to complete. An additional 30 minutes time may be granted to those who are non-native English speakers or have learning difficulties, but evidence must be given and the extra time must be approved prior to the exam. The pass mark is 70% and 85% is required to pass the exam with merit.
During the online exam, you will have the opportunity to review questions left unanswered, questions marked for review, or any questions on the exam. You may change answers when reviewing the test items. However, once the allotted testing time has expired, or you exit the examination, you cannot see or review those questions again.
Upon successful completion of the examination, delegates are entitled to use CBCI credentials and also receive complimentary membership to the BCI for 12 months.
After passing the exam, your CBCI certification is valid for three years, subject to an annual membership fee. Most professionals achieve the CBCI and then progress to more senior levels of BCI membership. For most, this will happen within three years. If you have not progressed after three years then you will need to re-sit the CBCI exam.
The CBCI Online Exam is available in English, Italian, French, Spanish and German. Delegates will automatically be signed up to the English exam, so please let us know if you require a different language that is listed.
